On May 23rd, Shona O’Callaghan, CEO of Empowering Creative Minds, took the TEDxIE Madrid stage to deliver a powerful and provocative talk:
“What if inclusion in education is just an illusion?”
As a neurodiverse educator and global inclusion consultant, Shona challenged the widespread belief that schools are inclusive — revealing that many still exclude the very people responsible for delivering inclusive education: neurodiverse teachers.
“If we don’t include those shaping the classroom, can we really call it inclusion?”
Drawing on personal experience and global data, she called for a new vision — one where inclusion is embedded not just in policy, but in leadership, culture, and everyday practice.
This isn’t just a conversation about education. It’s a wake-up call.
